At this site, we will continue the scrub clearance of these important chalk grasslands to improve the habitat for the butterflies. For a change, Tom would like us to dig up the invasive Cotoneaster in the area. Cotoneaster is a genus of flowering plants in the rose family found in the mountains of southwestern China and the Himalayas (as if we hadn’t got enough problems from the Himalayas with their Balsam). Please bring your own spade if you feel up to some digging.
This site is more challenging than our regular sites as it is on the northern slopes of the Downs.
