THE MILL POND - STORRINGTON

From our history page you will have understood how the Society came into being.

Since the refurbishment the Pond has become one of the most popular recreation areas in Storrington

In the summer it is a very popular place for the local shopkeepers and office workers to relax at lunchtime with their sandwiches etc. It is also an attraction for "mums" to bring "little willie" down to feed the ducks of which there are many.

Once a year we hold a "pond dipping" morning - this has two objectives

1) to show the young and sometimes not so young children what is in and around the pond &

2)We keep a log of what we find i.e invertebrates small fish and other water insects' this we send to Horsham District Council and the Environment Agency to enable them to an up to date knowledge of the health of the Pond.

The first two photos below show us at work before the refurbishment clearing weed etc. whilst

the next two show the work in progress.

The last three show a "pond dipping" session in progress,
